This has been a memorable month for the Yoder/Smucker families. My parents came out to N.M. for a long weekend to attend Megan's graduation from law school at the University of New Mexico. Way to go, Megs! We attended the after party at Megan and Uli's house where Sasha spent much of the time in the hammocks (above).
I always feel so short next to my "little" sister.
The next day Megan and I threw a surprise retirement brunch for my mom at The Chocolate Maven in Santa Fe. She will officially be retired from Westview High School as a school nurse next week on Tuesday. Congratulations, Mom! We are all looking forward to their big move out here in July.
Then later that day I gave a violin recital with Mary Jo Preheim for friends and family to practice my upcoming audition material for the Santa Fe Symphony. I was pleasantly surprised that my nerves were not as much of a factor as I had feared after a 10 year break from solo performance. Hopefully I will have an audition in the next month or so--at the very least sometime before the baby arrives in September. Finally, another milestone: Sasha slept in a "big girl bed" for the first time 2 nights ago. She went all night without coming out of her room and even proudly announced this morning that she got up to go "pee pee" all by herself in the middle of the night but was concerned because she forgot to wash her hands. What a kid....
